The South Jordan Police Department believes that the community involvement is crucial to effectively reducing crime in the city. There are several divisions within the SJPD including Uniformed Services Division and Special Services Division. The Uniformed Services Division is responsible for providing routine patrols around the city to detect and prevent crime as well as answering all calls for service. The Special Services Division is comprised of several different units including the Investigations Unit, Fire/Arson Unit, Victim Services Unit, Homeland Security, School Resource UNit, and Community Guard Unit. The inmates of the South Jordan Police Department are detained in the Salt Lake County Metro Jail and the Oxbow Jail Facility. Inmates at these facilities are allowed two 30-minute visits each week, one visit per visiting day. An inmate’s visitation schedule is dependent on his housing unit.
