The Hays Police Department is committed to creating a safe and secure community for its citizens and visitors. The HPD is comprised of several divisions including Patrol and Investigations. The Patrol Division is the most visible part of the department. The officers here are responsible for providing police presence 24/7 to the community and answering calls for service. The Investigations Division is comprised of 4 detectives who conduct investigations which include interviewing witnesses, gathering physical evidence, identifying and arresting suspects, and presenting cases to the County Attorney for prosecution.
