The Lansing Police Department consists of 17 full-time officer, 4 reserve officers, and 1 part-time animal control officer. The LPD provides several services to the community. Its officers perform patrol services 24/7, traffic control operations, and business + residence checks. The sole detective of the department handles follow-up investigation as well as preparation and delivery of a case to the prosecuting attorney. The LPD is under the command of Police Chief Steve Wayman.
