The Wichita Police Department works in partnership with the community to prevent and reduce crime in the city. The WPD is comprised of several divisions including Field Services, Investigations, and Support Services. The Field Services Division is comprised of uniformed personnel who are responsible for delivering law enforcement services through their community policing philosophy. The Investigations Division is responsible for conducting follow-up investigations of crimes against persons or property within city limits. The Support Services Division is responsible for providing several services to the community and the department. It is comprised of several bureaus including Records and Training. Inmates of the Wichita Police Department are detained in the Sedgwick County Adult Detention Facility. Inmates at this facility are allowed visitation through the video visitation program. All visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Visitors must register with the Detention staff.
