Greensburg is a town in St. Helena Parish and the parish seat of St. Helena is Greensburg. At the 2010 census the population was 718, and in 2016 the population was estimated at 681. The city is part of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Greenburg is one of the oldest towns in Louisiana. There are two properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Greensburg. These are the old land office and the old parish jail. During the Civil War, the Union Army raided Greensburg and destroyed a tannery and stole a large supply of guanine.
There are many tourist attractions in Greensburg. These are the Tangipahoa Parish Cultural Attractions as well as the Oak Plaza Shopping Centre.
The town has a total area of 2.5 square miles.

Jail
The old St. Helena Pish Jail built in 1855 is one of five extant examples in Louisiana and is one of the oldest standing buildings in St. Helena Parish. It was a two-story brick building and on the cement floor is evidence of the former cells.

The jail has a 56-bed capacity and is a medium custody jail.
