Jennings is a city in the parish of Jefferson Davis Parish, Louisiana and Jennings is the parish seat. The city is near Lake Charles. At the 2016 estimated census, the population was 10,118. The city is diverse with 68% of the population being white and the rest various other races.
In 1901, Jennings was the site of the first oil well to produce in Louisiana. The oil brought a boom to the town for a time. When the oil production declined, agriculture took over the economy.

The parish is in southwest Louisiana between Houston and New Orleans. The city is known for sugarcane, crawfish production and cattle raising.
The city is known as the Louisiana’s Cradle of Oil.

The jail has a sixty-two-bed capacity.
Visitation is held every Saturday. Female inmate are allowed visitors from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. Males inmates are allowed visitors from 9:00 am until 11:30 am. Each inmate can have up to two visitors per visitation. Visits last for thirty minutes.

Inmate mail is screened before being passed out on Monday through Friday. Include the inmate’s name on the envelope and send VIA the Postal Services to:
