The Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections J. Levy Dabadie Correctional Center was located on the property of Camp Beauregard and in Pineville. It closed in July 2012.
Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office Correction Division is responsible for the care, custody and control of approximately 1,070 offenders throughout Rapides Parish. The division is divided into 6 separate departments.

Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office takes all online tips through the Crime Stoppers tip line. Crime Stoppers has a secure online reporting system through a web site called TipSoft. This is a secure web site where all tips submitted are encrypted and anonymous. Your online tip will be assigned a number just like calling the Tip line.
Training Division
The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office Training Division offers a variety of training to law enforcement agencies as well as to the general public from our surrounding communities. The Sheriff’s Office has always had on-going training for the deputies who serve in our communities. But our official training academy was formed under Sheriff William Earl Hilton on January 20, 1999. It is located at 150 Sheriff’s Range Road in Alexandria, LA off I-49 at exit 90. The training academy is home of the Regional Corrections Academy, working as a satellite location under the Alexandria City Police Charter as the Regional Basic Police Academy. The Sheriff’s Office Training Academy takes the Basic Academy to a new level, providing a range with extensive firearms and officer’s survival training giving opportunity for surrounding agencies to get the training needed to fulfill the obligations of their departments by putting better trained law enforcement personnel into our communities.
Uniform Division
The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office (RPSO) serves a population of approximately 132,000 people.
The Uniform division of RPSO has approximately 10 different sections within the department. The Patrol section covers all areas of Rapides parish both inside and outside of all municipalities. These patrols are performed from the main office and six substations that cover the entire parish.
The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office has 60 School Resource Officers stationed throughout Rapides Parish schools. Every elementary, middle and senior high school in the parish has a School Resource Officer, including the private schools. Their primary responsibility is the safety of the students and faculty.
Civil Department
This department has the primary responsibility of serving all non-criminal court papers in Rapides Parish. This includes processing all writs, executing judgments, seizure and sale, all protective orders and civil warrants. Currently we serve an average of 500-600 court papers per week. Criminal Records Department
The Criminal Records Section houses all criminal and traffic reports that are prepared by the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office. Criminal Records is a part of the Criminal Investigation Division. Copies of Initial Criminal Reports as well as Traffic Reports are available by request. Requests can be submitted in writing or in person. We provide local criminal background checks for job applicants and employers. We also fingerprint Tuesday through Thursday from 8:30 to 3:30.
