Enforcement

Patrol Division

With a commitment to increase patrol services, we have added an additional 12 deputies to the patrol division. We are dedicated to the citizens of Acadia Parish. With the addition of deputies, we were able to reduce response times across the parish.

Narcotics Division

Over the past several years our parish has seen a steady increase in illegal drug activity.
The Narcotics Division consist of specially trained Agents equipped with the latest technology and equipment, who are dedicated to the eradication of illegal narcotics in our parish.

Criminal Investigations (CID)

CID is made up of four investigators and two clerical deputies. This division handles all felony investigations, ranging from thefts to homicides.

911 Dispatching

All calls received for law enforcement agencies and fire services are sent to our 911 Center. This center dispatches for five law enforcement agencies and seventeen fire departments around Acadia Parish.

Sex Offenders Unit

It is their responsibility to ensure that convicted sex offenders are registered and are complying with state laws. Reviews are completed on a monthly basis or according to the offender’s requirements. Residents are urged to contact our office if a sex offender is believed to be in violation of their requirements.

Civil and Tax

Civil

This division is responsible for processing legal actions filed in the District Court, collecting garnishments and the seizure and sale of properties. Our Civil Department compiled 185 items for Sheriff’s Sales with over 70 properties being sold in 2016.

This office was also responsible for collecting over $3,400,000 in debt recovery and collected garnishments in the amount of $187,217 in 2016.

Tax:

The Tax Division of the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office is responsible for the collection of property taxes in Acadia Parish. In 2016, $29,067,450 was collected and disbursed according to law. This office is also responsible for calculating and disbursing state revenue sharing and the collection of Occupational License fees for the Acadia Parish Police Jury.

Traffics, Bonds, Warrants

Over 10,000 civil and criminal subpoenas and court orders were issued to be served in 2016. They have five deputies assigned to process these court actions by traveling our parish to personally serve the required person. The supervisor of this division, as well as clerical deputies, has the responsibility of processing warrants, bonds and traffic fines as well as making court appearances for processing court findings.
