The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators has placed a drop box in the VPSO lobby. Persons with unwanted prescription medications can bring them to VPSO and place them in the secure drop box for disposal. This drop box DOES NOT accept syringes or medical equipment of any kind.

Project Loved One

Project Loved One has been established by the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office in an effort to provide services to persons who suffer from neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, or any mental impairment.
The service is free of charge to the public and will not only assist local law enforcement, but any law enforcement agency that may come into contact, with a person who has previously registered for the program. This service is available to all age groups.

The program was designed to assist any person or family with a loved one who for any reason may become lost or wonder away from where they are supposed to be. A family member of the person, or a concerned adult, can contact the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office at 337-238-7248 to schedule an appointment to register their loved one. All registrations will be conducted by appointment.

Once an appointment is scheduled the individual will be fingerprinted, photographed, and a detailed summary of their medical history, and emergency contact information will be obtained.

This information will be kept on file with the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office in case the person becomes lost while traveling or wanders away from their residence.
