The City of Fenton Police Department is a full service police department patrolling the City of Fenton 24 hours each and every day. The department currently employs a total of fourteen sworn police officers, which includes eleven patrol officers and supervisors two detectives, and the Chief of Police.
The 911 Emergency dispatch Center for the City is also located within the Police Department. All 911 calls for Police, Fire, EMS and other services are routed through the City’s 911 Dispatch Center. The Center is staffed by two full time dispatchers and four part time dispatchers. All dispatch staff are EMD Certified Dispatchers and handle a variety of duties including handling emergency calls, dispatch for Fire and Police calls, coordinate EMS response with various responders as well as administrative duties.

The Corrections Division includes the Genesee County Jail, Flint City Lockup, Work Detail, Tether and Work Release. The Genesee County Jail is a direct supervision facility with a max capacity of 580 inmates. The Jail continually exceeds capacity with a daily population of 580 to 620 inmates.
The Flint City Lockup is a linear supervision facility that was reopened in 2012 by The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office. The Flint City Lockup has a max capacity of 110 inmates. The successful reopening of the Flint City Lockup has allowed agencies throughout the County to lodge offenders for crimes once not meeting lodging criteria due to constant jail overcrowding. The Flint City Lockup is an important asset to Genesee County.

The City of Fenton Police Department is dedicated to enabling citizens and insurance companies’ to obtain accurate and affordable traffic accident reports within 1-4 business days of occurrence. To accomplish this we have made traffic accident reports available anytime through the Internet. CLEMIS has been chosen by the Fenton Police Department to service ALL of our insurance agencies requests for accident reports.
To request a CLEMIS account, simply visit www.clemis.org and click on the”Request an Insurance Account link”. Complete the account request form and submit it. CLEMIS will notify you by email when your account is ready for use.
CLEMIS will provide one consolidated invoice to you on a monthly basis for reports that you purchase.
As of September 1, 2009, the Fenton Police Department will NO LONGER PROCESS insurance requests for accidents occurring on or after July 28, 2009, as they can be obtained via the internet. Individual citizens may still get a copy of their report at the Police Department in person.
