K-9 Teams

The mission of the Midland Police Department’s K-9 Unit is to locate suspects / evidence at or near crime scenes and to provide protection and back-up for officers when possible and practical. Generally, a K-9 team will be deployed to enhance the capabilities of patrol or other units at a crime scene. In addition, they will provide psychological and physical backup, locate missing subjects and narcotic substance when so trained.

Detective Bureau

The detective bureau investigates all criminal complaints submitted via the patrol division for follow up, as well as complaints generated by many other governmental and private agencies.

The detective bureau is a specialized unit which conducts crime scene investigations, interviews, processes evidence, as well as many other detail oriented tasks.

Patrol Division

The Midland Police Department’s Patrol Division is responsible for law enforcement duties that include serving warrants, traffic services, crime prevention, and patrolling Midland streets and neighborhoods.

In a single shift, a patrol officer will provide a variety of services to the citizens of Midland. In addition, patrol officers must keep up ever-changing technology and law enforcement methods.

The Patrol Division responds to calls for service and patrols more than 36 square miles within the city limits.

S.W.A.T. Team

Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.) teams are small teams of police officers who are highly trained to respond to threats that are beyond the realm of traditional police officer training and expectation. The Midland S.W.A.T. team provides highly trained personnel for circumstances when precision marksmanship and skills are required to effectively handle hostile and violent criminal activities, entries into buildings that are occupied by armed individuals, and hostage situations.

Jail capacity is 274 beds. The podular design is state of the art, which includes open intake, pods for Trustees, Work Release, Females, Maximum Security, Medium Security and Direct Supervision. Each pod is equipped with its own classroom, video visitation station and an indoor/outdoor recreation room.

Inmates in the Midland County Jail can be visited in the jail or at home through video visitation.

Visits are self-scheduled in advance online according to approved visitation hours. Go online to: www.securustech.net/videovisitation and follow the prompts. If you do not own a computer, you can come into the lobby area of the Midland County Jail to schedule your visit. Your loved one is notified of the scheduled visit in advance and will be able to check in at the time of the visit.

Each inmate is allowed 1 in house (jail) visit per week free of charge. In house (jail) visitors must have the monitor number and pin number given to them by Securus once they have scheduled their visit to log onto the monitor. You must also bring a valid ID with you.

Visits from home have a charge but are not restricted on how many times per week.
