The town of Mayfield contracts with the Sanpete County Sheriff’s Department for law enforcement services. The SCSO is made up of several divisions and units. The Patrol Division conducts routine patrols in all areas within the jurisdiction of the Sheriff’s Office. Other responsibilities include traffic enforcement and responding to calls for service. The Jail Division, on the other hand, is responsible for the safety and security of all inmates detained in the Sanpete County Sheriff’s Complex. The head of the SCSO is Sheriff Brian Nielson.
