The Salt Lake City Police Department is committed to providing high-quality law enforcement services to the community. It is comprised of two main sections – Administration Bureau and Operations Bureau. The Administration Bureau consists of several divisions including Investigations, Professional Standards, and Support. The Investigations Division, for example, is comprised of detectives who are responsible for conducting follow-up investigations to identify and successfully prosecute criminal suspects. The Operations Bureau is also comprised of several divisions including Liberty Patrol, Pioneer Patrol, and Special Operations. The Special Operations Division, for example, is comprised of tactical units such as SWAT, narcotics, and organized crime. The SLCPD is headed by Police Chief Mike Brown.
