The Coahoma County Jail located at 63 Sunflower Avenue, Clarksdale, MS. is the central holding facility for criminals in the county. All prisoners from the municipal police departments as well as the Coahoma County Sheriff’s Department are housed in the Coahoma County Jail.

Civil Process

The civil process division is responsible for the service of court ordered legal documents and orders to include summons, subpoenas, and other civil process issued by the justice court, chancery court, youth court and circuit court. A large number of the civil process are received from various courts outside of Coahoma County. The civil process section was started at the Coahoma County Sheriff Office in 2009. Since that time they have served approximately 6000 pieces of process. The civil process division is a very valuable addition to the Sheriff’s Office, by freeing deputies to carry out their law enforcement responsibilities.

The Patrol Division of the Coahoma County Sheriff’s Department is dedicated to serving All of the citizens of Coahoma County.

The most important part of the Sheriff’s Department. These Deputies answer all of the calls for service, traffic accidents, patrol the county to insure a safe and secure community and perform numerous security duties throughout the county. Each shift is eight hour, with a Shift Commander responsible for each shift.

The Investigation Division of the Coahoma County Sheriff’s Department is responsible for investigating all felony crimes committed in coahoma county.

The investigators are responsible for gathering all evidence, working crime scenes, as well as working with the Mississippi Crime Lab to have the evidence properly analyzed and prepared for prosecution of felony and serious misdemeanor crimes.

The Coahoma County Sheriff Department started the Narcotics Division in March of 2009. This division marked the beginning of the Coahoma County Sheriff’s Departments first full time unit dedicated to drug enforcement in Coahoma County.
