Responsible for the response to all emergency and non-emergency calls for service, the Patrol Division is manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Among many things, Patrol Officers provide control during major incidents, investigate crashes, compose reports, conduct preliminary investigations, traffic enforcement, and being highly visible while patrolling neighborhoods.
Field Training Program
After completing a P.O.S.T. Law Enforcement Academy, a new recruit or a previously certified new hire must complete the Field Training Program designed for Scott Police Department based on the original program implemented in San Jose, California. Upon completion, the trainee will possess the knowledge and skills needed to adequately perform the duties of a Police Officer.
The program is taken in 4 phases where the Trainee is placed with a new Training Officer (FTO) with various degrees of knowledge and experience during each phase. The Trainees are evaluated by the FTO each day, at the end of each phase, and a final evaluation with the Chief of Police at the end of approximately 4 months of on the job training.

The main responsibility of the Scott Police Department Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is to review preliminary investigations conducted by Patrol Officers and continue the investigation if warranted. CID is also on call for any major incidents that occur within the city of Scott to assist the Patrol Division or assume control of an investigation.
The Traffic Enforcement Officer of the Scott Police Department is responsible for a continuous effort to improve traffic safety and facilitate the safe movement of vehicles throughout the City of Scott.
It is his job to enforce the traffic laws prescribed by the State of Louisiana, address traffic concerns of the citizens, and gain the public’s voluntary compliance with the traffic laws with a strong, uniformed presence.

The mission of the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center is to provide quality cost effective management of the offenders within the system, while building skill sets that will successfully re-integrate the offenders back into society. We shall complete this mission by:
- Providing quality evidence-based practices that are known to be effective
- Starting the reintegration process as early as possible
- Requiring all able bodied inmates to work and/or participate in programming
LPCC processes approximately 12,000 arrestees each year, providing the city and other local municipalities with booking, identification and inmate housing services. LPCC’s rated bed capacity is 814. The average number of inmates housed in LPCC during 2005 was 770.
LPCC is a small city within Lafayette Parish. The facility houses a full service kitchen, laundry facilities, GED services, job-seeking education, counseling services, religious services, recreation, social visiting, commissary, library, and mail distribution. LPCC also facilitates several work crews that provide services within the community.
This facility has transitioned to expand offender visitation availability by allowing the additional use of a new remote video visitation process provided by Telmate. This new visitation technology will allow for more visits at more times without the need to travel to the Visitation Center. It does not replace the current onsite visit process, but opens up the availability to visit from a remote site using the internet.
First time visitors must be verified with the Telmate system before visiting with an offender. To become verified, visit or access a Telmate kiosk
Visitors may now visit with offenders in the following two ways:
Onsite: From the Visitation Center located at the LPSO Community Corrections Campus at 100 Poydras St.
Onsite visiting hours are from 10:00 am – 7:00 pm Tuesday through Friday; and 10:00 am -4:00 pm on Saturdays. Visitation is closed on Sunday and Monday. Adult visitors must have a state recognized ID to visit. The maximum number of visitors per offender at a monitor is one (1) adult, and two (2) juvenile visitors at a time. Our space is limited, so we allow a maximum of five (5) visitors including children per offender. All visitors and volunteers shall comply with the dress code for visitors and volunteers. The dress code shall be strictly enforced.
In order to maintain a quiet and safe visiting area for all members of the public, the Visitation Center has rules that are posted both at the center. Visitors will be held responsible for the actions of any child under their supervision. A posted dress code is strictly enforced. Food or drinks are not permitted inside of the Visitation Center. If a visitor violates any rule or is disruptive in any manner during visitation, the visitor will be asked to leave and may be banned from the facility for six (6) months.
