The Vision and Mission of the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex (LPCC) is to provide and ensure a safe, secure, efficient and constitutional, new-generation facility. This facility shall serve and protect the community, the staff and the inmates while seeking to return a productive citizen to our community through the use of technology, innovation, and comprehensive rehabilitative and re-entry initiatives.
The LPCC shall provide a humane parish-wide confinement facility for inmate intake, pretrial detainees, and sentenced inmates. The facility shall be operated in compliance with the Constitution; federal, state, and local laws; controlling jurisprudence; Department of Corrections rules and regulations; and appropriate professional standards, customs and practices.
The LPCC shall work toward the accomplishment of these goals through innovative, credible, and reliable strategies to include programs, services and opportunities in the following areas:

The Patrol Division consists of highly-trained deputies who respond to all calls for service, from life threatening situations to keys locked in a car. This division consists of Uniform Patrol Section and the K-9 Section, as well as the Specialty Enforcement Section which includes Motorcycle Patrol, Bicycle Patrol, Traffic/School Guards, and the POP (Problem-Oriented Policing) Squad.
Detectives are called out to investigate major crimes that are reported to the Sheriff’s Office. They are specially trained to conduct initial and follow-up investigations and have the knowledge, skills, training, and experience to process crime scenes, collect and preserve evidence of a crime, and prepare cases for court. The Evidence Section catalogs and stores evidence for safekeeping and court proceedings. Narcotics agents are trained in case management, undercover, informant control, surveillance, and other related investigative techniques. The Crime Analysis Section collects and analyzes raw data from police reports in order to identify areas of the parish which may need special patrols or may benefit from crime-prevention techniques.
The Lafourche Sheriff’s Regional P.O.S.T. Training Academy is based in Thibodaux and trains officers from around the state. This division oversees the academy, annual re-certifications for LPSO deputies and other agencies, the Shooting Range, the Reserves Section, Explorer POST 323, and the “Safetyville” Exhibit at the Bayou Country Children’s Museum.

The Personnel and Social Services Division features several sections including employment and benefits, property control, and off-duty details. Our Police Social Services Section provides an unprecedented level of service to victims and the elderly, and The P.A.C.T. Place is one of the only law-enforcement-run supervised visitation and monitored exchange centers in the country.
The Judicial Services Division assists with multiple aspects of the judicial system including courthouse security, process servers, public records, warrants, fines and bonds, tax collection, tax sales, seized property, wage garnishments, community service, misdemeanor probation. The Division also features LPSO’s unique Pretrial Home Incarceration Program and the Sex Offender Accountability Program.
The I.T. staff is responsible for maintaining our vast array of computers and telecommunications equipment, including the desktop computers, laptop computers, in-car computers, servers, and software that make up the LPSO Computer network. This includes approximately 350 workstations and 30 servers at various locations throughout the parish. They are constantly evaluating the latest in cutting-edge technology for implementation at the agency. The staff also administers to the Zuercher Suite software which includes Computer-Aided Dispatch, Records Management, Jail Management, Civil Process Tracking, Agency Administration, Reporting, and much more. Lafourche Parish is one of the ONLY areas of the country to have all area law enforcement using a single system to share information, which is valuable in investigations. LPSO works side-by-side with Zuercher Technologies providing feedback and suggestions on a weekly basis to help improve the software for user agencies nationwide.
The Support Services Division oversees Communications (dispatch) and School Services, including School Resource Officers, PASS officers and DARE officers. The Water Patrol section is responsible for search and rescue marine operations for stranded or missing boaters, as well as enforcing boating safety and some wildlife and fisheries violations. Animal Control officers respond to animal complaints with a goal to humanely capture stray animals or any observed to be a threat to residents. Housing and Urban Development Services personnel handle security for H.U.D. in the form of Calls for Service, as well as delivering eviction notices and conducting background checks on applicants.
Fleet Management & Body Shop
The Fleet Management Section maintains the massive fleet of vehicles owned and operated by the Sheriff’s Office and its employees. This section employs inmate labor to assist mechanics in performing routine maintenance such as oil changes and alignments, as well as engine repairs and maintenance. The Fleet Auto Body Services Section is responsible for collision repairs and body maintenance of the fleet. Everything from broken door handles to damages from major collision are repaired by this section. The body shop also fabricates and installs the decals for the entire fleet.
