Mission
The mission of the Olive Branch Police Department is to maintain social order and provide professional law enforcement services to citizens in the community, within prescribed ethical, budgetary, and constitutional constraints. This Department strives to enforce the law and maintain order in a fair and impartial manner, recognizing the need for justice, and consistent appearance of justice. Members of the Olive Branch Police Department recognize that no law enforcement agency can operate at its maximum potential without supportive input from the citizens it serves. This Department actively solicits and encourages the cooperation of all citizens to reduce and limit the opportunities for crime and to assist in bringing to justice those that break the law.
Criminal Investigations
The goal of the CID is to conduct prompt and diligent investigations. We will use available technological resources and traditional investigative methods to solve crimes, apprehend criminals, accomplices, and fugitives, as well as locate missing persons and recover stolen property. Also, Detectives work closely with the Patrol Division to provide an immediate investigative response to crimes and incidents.
K-9 Unit
The K-9 Division is dedicated to providing the highest level of service to the citizens of Olive Branch. This division currently consists of two officers, Sgt. Michael Aldridge with his K-9 partner Marco and Officer David Rumbarger with his partner Borys. Marco is a Belgian Malanois and Borys is a Dutch Shepherd.
S.W.A.T.
The SWAT team consists of officers and is divided into an entry team, snipers, and K-9. Team members train regularly each month and attend specialized training in weapons, tactics, and explosives. SWAT members are also required to pass mandatory physical fitness tests. The SWAT team operates under the supervision of Captain Carlos Garcia and works closely with the Hostage/Crisis Negotiators.
Uniform Patrol
The Uniform Patrol Division operates under the direction of Major Danny Dishmon. The officers assigned to this division patrol the community in a highly visible manor in an effort to identify, prevent and solve community problems.

Adult Detention Facility
The DeSoto County Adult Detention Facility is located at 3425 Industrial Dr. Hernando, MS 38632. Juvenile Detention Facility
The Desoto County Juvenile Justice Facility opened in April 2007. It has over 13,000 square feet and has the capacity to hold 40 juveniles. This state of the art center is equipped with monitored security cameras throughout the facility. The male pod can house 25 boys and the female pod can house 15 girls. Each pod is equipped with an observation room which allows officers to have a constant visual on juveniles with special needs.
The facility includes a med room where juveniles receive medical care by on sight licensed medical professionals. An enclosed outside recreational yard is provided for physical activities. There is also a visitation room available for guardians, legal counsel, and youth court personnel.

Community Relations
The Community Relations Division of the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department is tasked with developing and maintaining collaborative partnerships between citizens, businesses, faith-based leaders, and the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department. The main focus of the campaign is crime prevention and the implementation of proactive enforcement efforts and measures aimed at the reduction of criminal incidents, rather than just responding to them after they have occurred. Criminal Investigations Division
The Criminal Investigations Division is dedicated to providing quality service to the citizens of DeSoto County through successful investigations and follow ups of specific criminal actions. The Criminal Investigations Division is primarily responsible for the investigation of major felony crimes such as homicide, aggravated assault, sexual assault, burglary, robbery, forgery, and fraud. Investigators in this division also look into child abuse, vehicle thefts, thefts from vehicles, and larcenies.
Patrol
Uniform Patrol is the largest unit within the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department. There are 64 officers assigned to the Uniform Patrol Unit. These officers are assigned to one of four shifts that work on a 12 hour rotation. DeSoto County is divided into 4 districts. Each Shift has a Lieutenant and two Sergeants and 10 deputies. Each officer is assigned their own patrol car and all the equipment needed to perform their job function. Each patrol car has a laptop that is capable of generating reports and assigning calls for service. The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department utilizes E-tickets that are written and printed by the computer in the patrol car. We strive to be the best department we can be, whether it be with our equipment or our officers. The sheriff’s department is dedicated to be a pro-active agency that deters crime before it happens. The patrol division is constantly training to become better equipped to serve the citizens of DeSoto County and to stay ahead of the criminal aspect that surrounds us.
Fugitive Division
The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Division is responsible for serving both misdemeanor and felony warrants, civil process, conducting extraditions, handling writs of commitment, and other court services.
