Established in June 1973 with six officers, The Pearl Police Department is the tenth largest city police department in the state. All officers are equipped with today’s most modern equipment. The police are furnished body armor and require its usage. The department carries updated Glock 40 Semi-Automatic sidearms.
All vehicles are furnished with traffic direction equipment and shotguns and each has a MSWIN Primary Radio. Officers that live in the city have take home units.
The Department is led by Police Chief Dean Scott. He was appointed Chief of Police in March of 2018. He supervises over 60 sworn officers and over 20 civilian employees. Chief Scott has built a reputation for working side by side with citizens, neighborhood leaders, and business owners to solve crime problems and improve our community. Chief Scott has served the citizens of Pearl since 2017 where he served as an Assistant Chief. His leadership and commitment to the City of Pearl is the driving force to reduce crime in the City of Pearl.
