The Herriman Police Department is comprised of 35 sworn police officers. It has two main divisions – Operations and Investigations. The Operations Division consists of several units such as Patrol, K9 Unit, Traffic Enforcement, Major Accident Team, Child Abduction Response Team, and Crossing Guards. The Investigations Division, is also comprised of several sections such as Persons Crimes Detective, Property Crimes Detectives, Narcotics, Forensics/Evidence, School Resource Officers, Search & Rescue, and SWAT. The HPD is headed by Chief of Police Troy Carr.

There are two correctional facilities that house the inmates of the Herriman Police Department – the Salt Lake County Metro Jail and the Oxbow Jail Facility. Inmates at these facilities are granted the privilege of two visits per week, one visit per visiting day. Each visit is 30 minutes in length. An inmate’s visitation schedule is dependent on his housing unit. All visits must be scheduled up to 6 days in advance by calling 385-468-8400.
