The Town of Vineyard contracts with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office for law enforcement services. The UCSO is comprised of two main bureaus – the Enforcement Bureau and the Corrections Bureau. The Enforcement Bureau is divided into several divisions which include Patrol and Emergency Services. The Patrol Division is responsible for providing animal control services, police coverage to the community, and traffic enforcement. The Emergency Services Division, on the other hand, oversees Search and Rescue, Bomb Squad, and the Sheriff’s Mounted Posse. The UCSO is headed by Sheriff Mike Smith.

The Utah County Jail houses the inmates of the Utah County Sheriff’s Office. The facility has a maximum capacity of 800 prisoners. Inmates are given two free 25-minute visits each week at the jail. Free on-site visits are held Monday through Friday, from 10:00 am-11:00 am, 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm and 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm, except on holidays. All schedules must be scheduled 24 hours in advance of the visit through the Securus website or by using the Securus kiosk located in the visitor waiting room.
