The Hastings Police Department is the law enforcement division of the City of Hastings. The department is responsible for the enforcement of Federal and State law, as well as local ordinances. The department serves and protects all persons and property within the City of Hastings.
The department is the primary investigative agency of traffic crashes, both property damage and injury type. As the result of crash investigations, civil infraction citations may be issued and/or criminal charges referred to the Barry County Prosecutor’s Office. Mandatory crash information is processed and forwarded to Lansing by office personnel.

- Jail inmates are allowed one (1) half-hour visit per week.
- Non-contact visitation is provided with the resident and visitor(s) facing each other separated by a glass window. Visits are offered on a first come first serve basis.

- Intoxicated or obnoxious visitors will be asked to leave. No obscene language will be tolerated.
- Visitors must be dressed in a socially accepted manner. Clothing must not be sexually suggestive or revealing in any way. Those dressed in a non-socially accepted manner may be denied visit.
