The current Montcalm County Jail opened on March 1, 2002. The facility was built utilizing the latest innovations in Corrections technology and initially contained 119 beds.
In 2003, an additional 52 beds were added after remodeling an adjoining section of the original jail, bringing the total bed capacity to 181. A second renovation, this time in the new facility was completed in the Fall of 2006, adding another 24 beds. The current total bed count is 205.
The Montcalm County Jail currently employs 17 full-time Corrections Officers and 4 Sergeants.
