The Criminal Investigative Unit is responsible for investigating property crimes, assaults, homicides, sex crimes, fraud cases, etc. The Vice Narcotics Unit, on the other hand, is responsible for investigating and detecting narcotic violations, illegal alcohol sales, gambling, and other illegal vices.

The Brunswick County Detention Center is a 444-bed capacity jail. Inmates at this facility are allowed visitation through non-contact video visits. Remote visits are available through the Securus Video Visit app. Inmates can also get one visit per week onsite. Visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Onsite visitation times are Sunday through Monday. Appointments start at 9am and end at 7:35pm.
