The Patrol Division is responsible for providing 24/7 patrol coverage to all areas within Town limits and answering all calls for service. They also enforce traffic rules and perform home security checks when requested. The Criminal Investigations Division, on the other hand, is responsible for conducting investigations on all reported incidents. The MVPD also provides other services such as the Neighborhood Watch program.

The Haywood County Detention Center houses the pretrial inmates of the Maggie Valley Police Department. The jail has a maximum capacity of 150 male and female inmates. Inmate visitation is by appointment only. To set an appointment, you can call (866) 340-7879 between 8am to 8pm, Monday through Friday, and 2pm through 6pm on Saturdays. All visits must be scheduled 24 hours in advance.

Visitation is conducted according to the schedule below:

A-Pod & Annex: Mondays 6:00 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Dorm: Wednesdays 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
B-Pod: Thursdays 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
C-Pod: Sundays 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
D-Pod: Saturdays 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
