The Troutman Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency headed by Chief of Police Matthew Selves. The TPD employs 14 full-time officers. There are several divisions within the department such as the Patrol Division, Patrol K-9 Division, Investigative Division, and Training Division. The Patrol Division is responsible for arresting criminal violators, enforcing state and town laws, and answering calls for service. The Investigative Division is responsible for conducting timely, professional and thorough criminal investigations.

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility is the jail used to house the pretrial inmates of the Troutman Police Department. The jail can hold up to 277 inmates – 201 in the main jail and 76 in the annex. Chief Deputy Bert Connolly is the supervisor of the facility. The visitation hours are based on the inmates’ last names.
