The Field Operations is the largest component of the APD. It consists of Uniformed Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Traffic Enforcement, Vice/Narcotics Investigations, and the Special Enforcement Team (SET).

The Randolph County Jail is the facility used by the Asheboro Police Department. This is a 195-bed facility that houses male and female inmates ages 16 and above. Inmates are allowed visitation Mondays through Fridays from 7pm to 8pm. The schedule of visitation will depend on the housing unit of an inmate.
