The Criminal Investigations consists of four sections – General Investigations, Vice/Narcotic Unit, and the Crime Lab and Evidence. The Operations Division is comprised of Patrol, Parking Enforcement, Youth Crime Prevention Officer, Community Resource Officer, and the School Resource Officers.

The Rowan County Detention Center is the facility used by the Salisbury Police Department. This direct supervision facility can house up to 210 inmates. There is also an annex facility which can house an additional 160 inmates. All inmates are allowed non-contact visits once a week. The schedule is based on the inmates’ last names.
